Only true blondes will understand the struggle of having to scour more cosmetic brands than Sephora carries for a brow product that will not make them look like they need to purchase a brunette wig to match. Brows are an essential part of a women’s daily beauty routine, and just because our natural brows are a harder hunt to find than a man who actually calls you when he says he will does not mean that we have to forgo them all together! After many years and countless cosmetic products, I have finally found the perfect combination of brow products for my bleach blonde eyebrows.
First, let’s set some basic brow tips. Always brush your brows before applying any product to them. This will ensure that your brows are shaped the way you like before you go in with any color. Second, it is important to pluck, wax, or thread your brows on a regular basis so that your shape stays consistent and it is obvious to see where you need to apply the product. If your brows are extremely translucent like mine, you can go a bit longer before having to remove unwanted hairs. You just want to be sure that you are aware of the area you want to fill.
Now that we’re all shaped, brushed, and plucked, here’s the products that I swear by:
Benefit Cosmetics Goof Proof Brow Pencil $24 This is my absolute favorite brow product that I’ve ever tried. I love it because it is super easy to use, and it’s a quick step in my daily makeup routine. This pencil has a built in spoolie-brush so that you can shape your brows before applying the product. I also recommend giving them another quick brush once you’re done. I use this product in Shade 2 (light) because it darkens my brows to the color of my natural lowlights found in my hair. This is what I use first when doing my eyebrows to outline the brow and fill in the arch and tail. I generally will either use this product lightly on the start of my brows, or not at all to create a more natural look. After I have applied this brow pencil the way I like, I switch to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo. This product is also available for purchase at Ulta Beauty stores.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo $23 This product is what gives my brows that extra emphasis and sleek look that we all crave. I take a brow brush (see the one I use below) and pick up both shades of powder then go back in and fill my brows to ensure there are no barren areas. I start this product in my arch and then work it back into the tail of my brow. Once I have filled in my arch and tail, I take my brush and brush the start of my brows upward when there is less product left on my brush. I continue this process until the start of my brows have just enough pigment to create a natural sparse to darker color effect. I use this product in TAUPE, which is the second out of 11 shades. You could use this product alone, however, I recommend using both products together to get the best shape and color for your brows. This product is also available for purchase at Ulta Beauty and Sephora stores.
IT Cosmetics Love Beauty Fully Angled Liner/Brow Brush #217 $16 This brush is the perfect applicator for any powdered brow product. Its angled tip allows for you to get a sharp clean looking arch and tail for your brows. I recommend buying this brush for anyone who uses a powder to help fill in their brows.
For the ladies that like to keep their beauty products under one brand, here are some great options to give you the same effect as my personal brow routine. Both brands offer their products at similar prices with great reviews, so it all boils down to personal preference.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer $23 If you are a woman who likes to stick to one brand when buying beauty products for a particular feature, this brow definer by Anastasia Beverly Hills is a very similar product to Benefit’s Goof Proof Brow Pencil. The shades of this brow definer are synonymous with the shades of Anastasia’s Brow Powder Duo, so there will be no guessing when it comes to choosing your shade for each product. I would also use the shade TAUPE in this product.
Benefit Cosmetics Foolproof Brow Powder $24 This brow powder by Benefit Cosmetics pulls me in because of its clever packaging. They’ve created a great visual to show where you should apply each shade and included brush (ideal for on-the-go touch ups). If you’re looking for a hassle free one step brow powder product, this is your answer. The Foolproof Brow Powder comes in three shades: light, medium, and deep to make sure that no brow is left behind. I would use shade 01 Light as it is for platinum to light blonde.
To all my blonde friends, it’s time to take control of your brows and make them one of your best features. I hope that these products and tips will answer your never-ending search for brow products. Feel free to share with me how these products elevate your beauty routine!
