The infamous flare jeans are coming back! The flare cut is available in many different kinds of pants including slacks, track pants, and corduroys. Sense Americans love their denim, we’re going to focus on flare cut jeans in particular. Nevertheless, you can use these same styling tips for any flare cut pant you wear.
Who Should Wear Them: When shopping for flares, you can get a ‘cropped flare’ or a full length flare. I prefer the full length flare because it makes my legs look best and I think they are more fun to walk in as well as style. In my opinion, flare cut pants are for tall girls. They accentuate our already long legs, which many tall girls deem as their best feature. However, a woman of any height can wear flares. If you are on the shorter side, you will NEED to pair your flares with a heel to better create a longer leg elusion.
Benefits of the Flare Style: Flare cut pants will elongate your leg while also making your thighs look slimmer. The slimming effects of this cut is seriously unreal. Your legs will look better than ever in a pair of flares. Once you see how skinny this cut makes your legs appear, you’ll be wondering why you didn’t ditch your ‘skinny’ jeans earlier.
How to Style: Style your flares as you would any jean. Personally, I would pick a top or blouse that is shorter in length so that is does cover your thighs. This will ensure that your legs get the full slimming and elongating perks that the flare cut offers. I would pair my flares with a simple button down shirt and a pair of booties or pumps. When I wear flares, I always wear a heel so that my legs look even longer and slimmer. My next go to look for Flare jeans is a relaxed fit shirt or sweater. When styling this relaxed look, make sure you tuck your shirt or sweater into the front of your pants to show off that waist line and your legs.
Where to Buy: Many of your favorite denim brands also have a flare cut style. If you have a favorite designer that most of your jeans are from, check to see if they also offer a flare. I recently got a pair of flare jeans from Free People and I love them (they are the ‘Super Denim Flare’ found below)! Free People has a lot of really fun styles that have wider cuts or are ruffled if you want something more unique than the traditional flare. If you do not have a favorite denim designer, I recommend going onto Nordstrom and filtering the denim search to flares to get a wide variety of styles and price points. Also, for my J. Crew fans, they have a bunch of flare cut pants (not all denim) out now for spring in several different colors and styles.
