Capes: For Fashion Forward Superheroes

Capes are on the rise in the fashion industry. They make a unique statement compared to winter jackets, yet they still serve the purpose of keeping us warm. With all these fashionable capes now being sported all over, Superwoman just took her wardrobe to a whole new level. One beauty of capes is that they can be dressed up or dressed down. Capes are very versatile; Wear your cape on top of a typical jean and blouse outfit to tie together a stylish more fashion-forward look. Switching your outfit to fit the nightlife, style the cape over your cocktail dress and put on your pumps for a dressy ensemble. Capes come in many different designs and cuts which are important to pay attention to. They will tell you if the cape is meant to be worn as more of an evening look or for an everyday outfit. Like all coats, it is best to buy a high quality cape in a neutral color.

Capes on Jeans: These two looks are relatively simple. Jeans paired with a white blouse is always a classic in-style look. The cape is the center attention in these two outfits; it is the final piece of their look that makes it so fashionable. Take your casual look to a new status by throwing on a cape.

Trousers and Capes: Trousers are not as casual as jeans and provide women with a great professional look. These outfits here are daytime dressy made with simple pieces. The capes worn in these looks create the final touch to their fashion statement that makes us want to wear these ourselves!

Capes over Evening Wear: Everywhere you turn at a formal event you will see cocktail dress worn with heels over and over again. I’m not telling you that wearing that outfit is not acceptable, but let’s spice it up a bit! Capes are a great way to keep what you’re already wearing on. Adding a chic evening cape will make you standout amongst the crowd.

I am continuing to follow my passion of fashion at FIDM in Los Angeles, and plan to graduate December of 2018. I have big dreams of making my mark on the fashion industry. Eventually I hope my career allows me to live in Manhattan working in the industry that I love, and giving me the opportunity to travel the world for fashion weeks and other fashion related ventures.
