This past Saturday, the 12th, I turned 18! While I think that is a big milestone for me, my life has truly just begun. I have been spending years intricately building my wardrobe and I am finally sure of my style identity.
I was thankful that this November I was able to wear something a little more revealing as it was not freezing weather quite yet. I chose to wear my new Free People Painted Flowers Midi Dress. (Now unfortunately ladies midi dresses are not for all of us, however, I was blessed with the 5 foot 9 inch stature that is able to standout in longer hitting hemlines. This particular midi is amazing because of its “on trend” choker neckline, as well as adjustable sides so that you do not lose your waist in amongst the fabric. (Seems like Free People thought of everything when designing this one!) Last but certainly not least, this dress is open back and cut on the sides to reveal a little side boob for a one up on the sex appeal scale. If you are more of a plain LBD kind of woman, do not let this pattern intimidate you! It is mostly black, gold, and red which are basic colors that are hiding in your accessory closet. This dress is very bold and unique, but as a stylist, I found it very easy to dress up or down with items that are most likely in every woman’s wardrobe.
For my birthday look, I paired the dress with Sam Edelman Hazel Pointed Pumps ($120) and my Michael Kors collection handbag. While these are a little more upscale accessories, the same look can be accomplished for less with cheaper black pointed toe pumps and another black purse with gold accents. Whether you recreate my look for a first date with the cute guy that you like to do squats next to at the gym, or for a beachy get away, you will be sure to turn some heads!
